📝 I moved from my self hosted Mastodon instance to a micro.blog account rachsmith.com/i-moved-f…

@matthiasott I need to set that up. My Bluesky account is pretty dormant

@rach Good article. I didn't know that about DigitalOcean; that's a bummer.
And yesss to the chill, nerdy vibe. Here's hoping it lasts a long, long time. 🥂

@rach Off-topic but the rainbow link borders on your blog make me so happy! 🌈

@gabrielle thank you! Me too!! People either love them or hate them. My next site design that I’m working on makes them a setting you can toggle 😆

@rach I'm kinda confused (doesn't seem to take much these days) So you use micro.blog app to read and write your Mastodon/AP posts?
Could you use other clients to read/write posts - like can you log in to your micro.blog using the Mastodon client or Ivory for example?
Because I read your posts in Ivory, and reply here and can see your likes and stuff I think. But you have to use their app to do your side of it? I'm not sure why I find this aspect of federation hard to understand haha.

@scrwd it is hard to understand! I read and write posts through the micro.blog clients. My micro.blog account won't work with Mastodon clients, I haven't tried but micro.blog docs say it just won't work. I believe the like counts you can see are from likes on your instance only?? but I think any Mastodon counts on micro.blog posts/accounts are to be considered unreliable 🤷🏻♀️

Hello. Welcome to Micro.Blog! (I follow all of @manton’s post over on Mastodon, that’s how I found you, nice feature really, maybe we should have that here too?). Anyway, what you wrote makes perfect sense, the price quickly adds up. Also, I didn’t know CSS Tricks had been acquired! 😭 I loved to see all the creative CSS stuff there, and snagged some code too.

@odd thank you! Yes, all the great legacy content is still there but it’s a real shame there is no one writing new stuff.

@toddgrotenhuis replying takes more thought/intention, I suppose that’s what is positive about it
